Job Summary
The Youth Development Specialist is responsible for the direct care and supervision of youth in a residential program, requiring competent judgment and discretion in handling confidential information. This role includes working directly with at-risk youth and necessitates awareness and acceptance of cultural differences, including the LGBT community. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one-to-two years of general work or volunteer experience. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and meet background check requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One-to-Two years general work experience or equivalent hours worked in part-time or volunteer work
- Experience working in direct contact role with youth at risk
- Valid driver's license
- Clear driving record
- Current automobile insurance
- Background compliant with requirements of the Department of Juvenile Justice
- Demonstrate awareness, acceptance, and ability to work with the LGBT community
- Demonstrate awareness and acceptance of cultural differences of clients, staff, and community contacts
