Job Summary
Youth Development Specialist supports Club Leadership in providing an Outcome-Driven Club Experience across core pillars such as Academic Success, Career Development, character and leadership development, health and life skills, arts, sports, fitness, recreation, and social-emotional well-being. The role works directly with youth to ensure their safety, well-being, and development through interactive activities, requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate with youth and parents effectively, adaptability to changing environments, and a commitment to positive youth development. Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating activities; maintaining facilities and supplies; facilitating BGCA core programs; tracking attendance and behavior data; participating in staff meetings and trainings; ensuring safety guidelines are followed; and upholding child safety standards. CPR/First Aid preparedness is preferred, with willingness to obtain certification within 90 days. Must be able to work in-person at Meadow Woods Middle School in Orlando, FL, with evening and weekend availability as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Associate's degree in education, youth development, or a related field preferred
- Some experience working or volunteering with youth in an educational or development setting preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred; willingness to obtain within the first 90 days of employment if not already certified
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire youth
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work schedule including evenings and weekends
- Proficiency in data collection and reporting, including attendance and participation figures
