Job Summary
Youth Development Professional for the Migrant Summer Program responsible for supervising 5–12-year-olds in a safe, structured environment; provide classroom support and small-group instruction alongside the ESL Teacher; reinforce English language development through activities and games; lead summer camp activities (games, arts, STEM, enrichment); supervise field trips and model positive behavior; build positive relationships with youth and families, including Spanish-speaking participants; implement behavior management aligned with program expectations; manage daily transitions (arrival, dismissal, meals, activities); maintain attendance and assist with program documentation; ensure compliance with OCCL licensing and safety standards; work hours Monday–Friday 8:00am–6:00pm (up to 40 hours/week) for the full duration of the program (June 15–August 3); Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is an Equal Opportunity Employer; background checks and certifications required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, human services, or related field preferred
- Experience working with youth in school, camp, or community-based setting
- Ability to engage and manage groups of children in an active environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual candidates fluent in English and Spanish preferred
- Must pass FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per Delacare regulations
- First Aid/CPR Certification or completion within two months of hire
