Job Summary
Model positive behavior, enforce rules, and serve as a mentor to young people while overseeing daily recreation area operations, including safety checks, facility maintenance, and signage. Organize and facilitate diverse activities such as games, fitness events, arts and crafts, and musical instruction to promote teamwork and healthy relationships. Assess group dynamics, complete necessary paperwork and incident reports, and ensure all program activities align with Club policies and the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development. Provide daily feedback to supervisors and attend required staff and one-on-one meetings. This role supports the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains mission to enable young people to realize their full potential as responsible citizens.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Commitment to working four days a week
- Commitment to make a class schedule for the upcoming semester meet the scheduling needs of the Boys & Girls Club (if applicable)
- Commitment to working at the Club during the summer
- Must be able to work within the school year operating hours of the Club
- Must be able to work within the summer operating hours of the Club
- Must understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior management principles and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club training and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety
- Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, etc., at the Club to ensure the safety of the space and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods throughout a shift
- Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.
