Job Summary
Plan and implement youth development activities, including recreation, art, life skills, and sports, within budget constraints to support academic and social success. Coordinate program setup, supply needs, and special events while identifying community resources and volunteers. Provide guidance and discipline to participants, maintain accurate records, and track attendance through intake and periodic forms. Assist with student enrollment, clerical duties, and classroom assignment coordination with teachers. Represent the organization to parents, school districts, and the public to promote program objectives and resolve issues.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate and provide guidance to youth through establishing positive relationships with youth participants
- Demonstrated caring and respect exhibited toward participants
- Ability to relate to the general public, parents and B&GCS participants in a friendly, positive, and professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to convey B&GCS policies and procedures to participants
- Ability to implement appropriate guidance and discipline policies
- Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe and welcoming environment
- Valid Illinois Drivers License
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, energy and commitment in personal contact with participants, parents, supervisors and the general public
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
- Ability to intervene in a fight or control youth aged 6 to 18
- Ability to drive motor vehicle preferred (with valid IL drivers license)
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
