Job Summary
Promote and stimulate program participation while assisting program leaders in planning and leading center members and activities. Guide youth through registration and orientation processes, providing role modeling and implementing programs that foster Christ-like character. Monitor safety and quality during activities, prepare periodic reports, and assist with outreach efforts to sustain membership. Maintain facility and equipment, manage storage areas, and report maintenance needs to the supervisor. Perform physical tasks including lifting moderately heavy equipment and engaging in constant motion for youth programming. Occasionally interact with upset parents, external partners, or challenging youth, and travel to off-site community events.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver License
- Ability to perform a variety of physical activities on a regular basis requiring constant motion (standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, pushing/pulling and hand-eye coordination)
- Ability to lift (or obtain assistance lifting) moderately heavy (30-60 lbs.) program equipment following appropriate safety precautions
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words, communicating orally with others accurately and clearly
- Position requires travel within the community and to participate in off-site Center events
- Ability to speak with or assist with upset parents/guardians
- Ability to occasionally speak with upset external partners or community members
- Ability to handle exposure to emotional outbursts from youth or their family members
- Ability to handle exposure to germs and children who are ill
