Job Summary
Lead youth dance classes by planning and implementing sessions focused on specific skill mastery, culminating in end-of-session showcases. Maintain close visual supervision of assigned children at all times, utilizing proactive strategies and constructive discipline to manage behavior. Cultivate positive relationships with parents and caregivers while engaging them as volunteers and connecting them to the organization. Uphold safety, cleanliness, and ADA compliance standards, including mandatory reporting procedures and risk management protocols. Adhere to YMCA policies and the Six Pillars of Character in all interactions. Requires current First Aid, CPR, and child abuse prevention certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen years or older
- high school diploma or equivalent
- Current approved First Aid
- Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certifications within 60 days of hire
- Completion of child abuse prevention training prior to first day in program
- Ability to lift 30-35lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Completed semester units in CD, human services, or related fields preferred based on topic to lead
- Previous experience working with school age children in a group setting
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities around a specific area of focus
- Y-USA Leader Certification
- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities
