Job Summary
Provide supervision, support, and direction to children fostering their positive growth and development while maintaining a hazard-free, clean, and orderly household. Prepare meals to conform to menus and accompany groups or individual children for outside activities, appointments, and supervised recreation. Monitor physical well-being, ensure adherence to medication regimens, and enforce Healing Home rules with fair discipline. Complete all required logs, forms, reports, and incident documentation in a timely fashion. Organize independent living skills groups and participate in service planning and review meetings. Report incidents to supervisors immediately and complete appropriate paperwork. Work flexible 10-hour shifts with trauma-sensitive practices, requiring a valid NYS driver's license and fire safety certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid NYS driver's license
- Flexibility to work a 10-hour shift based on program needs
- Must obtain a S95 & F-07 fire safety certification within the first 3-months of employment
- 1-year professional childcare experience
- Experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbance
- Experience in working with diverse communities
- Knowledge of multicultural issues including race, class ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, gender expression, etc.
- Proven skills in cooking
- Proven skills in household maintenance
- Proven skills in interpersonal skills
- Proven skills in physical stamina
- Ability to adjust for the unique needs of anyone participating in your activities
- Must be open to trauma informed training
- Must maintain a trauma informed environment
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of clients in crisis
- Must demonstrate responsiveness to cultural differences
- Must demonstrate a commitment to the value of cultural competency
