Job Summary
Conduct 60-90 minute youth climbing classes with 4-6 students or co-instruct groups of 6-12, delivering age-appropriate instruction that balances skill development, safety, and fun. Implement a structured curriculum while adapting flexibly to individual student needs and maintaining maximum engagement. Communicate regularly with parents regarding child progress and coordinate with the Youth Leadership Team on a regular basis. Contribute ideas for new teaching exercises or games to enhance the program. Support climbers ages 3–17 across rec classes, drop-in programs, camps, and competitive team events to foster a welcoming environment where young athletes build confidence.
Required Qualifications
- Availability between 4pm-8pm time-slot on weekdays, and/or 9am-2pm timeslot on weekends
- Previous experience teaching rock climbing to children
- 1 year or more of experience working with grade school children
- 1 year or more of personal rope climbing experience
- Belay certification at FA or ability to pass belay certification upon hire
- High level of energy and affect
- Safety focus and vigilance
- Excellent communication skills with children and adults
- Dependability and timeliness
- Upstanding reputation in the climbing community
