Job Summary
Plan and lead age-appropriate introductory cheerleading practices, teaching motions, chants, jumps, and beginner stunts to youth participants. Foster a safe, inclusive atmosphere while promoting YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Monitor attendance, communicate updates to parents, assist with end-of-program performances, and maintain equipment. Serve as a positive role model and report any safety concerns to the Sports Director. Requires CPR and First Aid certification, experience with children ages 5–14, and ability to work evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and seasonal schedules as required
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively demonstrate cheerleading movements and basic routines
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- CPR, First Aid, and other YMCA-required certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous cheerleading, coaching, dance, gymnastics or youth sports experience
- Knowledge of basic cheerleading techniques and safety practices
- Experience working with children ages 5 – 14
- Experience coordinating youth sports, recreation programs, or related activities
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and encourage young participants
