Job Summary

Monitor daily shelter operations, oversee Youth Care Specialist II staff, and ensure client safety through facility security and crisis intervention. Assist with staff scheduling, meeting agendas, and program activity coordination while maintaining accurate log reports and documentation. Provide direct supervision of clients during activities, manage shift-to-shift client information transfers, and schedule required inspections for fire, health, and vehicles. Complete necessary paperwork, maintain office supplies, and transport youth on field trips. Requires flexibility for shift coverage, ability to lift 50 pounds, and physical readiness for emergency response. Reports to Program Manager within a team of 60 programs serving diverse populations across Florida.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/equivalency
  • Two years' experience in direct care service delivery
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to remain physically active throughout the workday, including frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting
  • Ability to safely and effectively intervene in crisis situations, including physically guiding or restraining youth when necessary and appropriate
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to move quickly and respond promptly to emergency situations
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; must be able to communicate effectively with youth and team members
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and phones
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to ensure the safety of youth in care
  • Must have a high level of energy
  • Must have full physical capabilities such as lifting, bending, cooking, cleaning, and using the telephone
  • Ability to transport youth in the program vehicle and accompany youth on field trips/recreational outings
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers and the general public
  • Must be available for shifts during shortages
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather
  • Must adhere to licensing and quality assurance standards of state, federal and local governing agencies
  • Must adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
