Job Summary
Coordinate Youth Bureau programs by administering resource allocation, establishing procedures for assessing youth needs, and implementing evaluation and monitoring protocols. Recruit, train, and orient the local Youth Board while meeting regularly to update them on progress, fiscal standing, and planning. Develop and approve positive youth programs, partner with agencies, and prepare applications for state and federal funding. Plan, promote, and direct a comprehensive community-wide recreational, educational, and social program focused on delinquency prevention and youth development. Manage records, budgets, and expenditures, and act as a liaison between municipalities, contracting agencies, and the Office of Children and Family Services. Assist in developing the annual Child and Family Services Plan and conduct research on socio-economic conditions affecting youth.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in social work, community development, guidance, or a closely related field
- one (1) year of experience working with youth in recreation, youth development, character building, delinquency prevention or similar fields
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree
- three (3) years of experience working with youth in recreation, youth development, character building, delinquency prevention or similar fields
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined by the limits of (A) and (B) above
- Knowledge of psychological and sociological factors in development of youth and underlying juvenile delinquency and personal maladjustment
- Knowledge of pertinent socio-economic conditions related to juvenile delinquency and youth development
- Knowledge of modern methods of maintaining financial and statistical records and budget control
- Knowledge of modern public relations techniques
- Plan, coordinate, and direct the work of others
- Plan, promote, oversee, and coordinate a comprehensive community-wide recreational, educational, and social program of delinquency control and prevention and youth development
- Perform basic research and to prepare detailed reports
- Excellent communication skills for multiple audiences
