Job Summary
Youth Counselor provides supervision and guidance for residents in a Group Home, modeling and enforcing core values of faith, education, and caring. Responsibilities include supporting trauma-informed practices, assisting residents with schoolwork, teaching hygiene and socially appropriate skills, maintaining a therapeutic and orderly living environment, administering medications as directed, de-escalating crises, planning activities and trips, maintaining daily logs, and communicating with the team. Sleepovers are required (two per shift); role involves coordinating cottage activities and serving as a positive adult role model, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or equivalent verified experience in Child Care/Youth Residential setting
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must successfully complete: Mandated Child Abuse Reporting, Ethical Standards, and Crossing Boundaries of Employee Conduct
- Must successfully complete 8- and 16-hour Department of Social Services Assessment
- Must be able to sit, bend, squat, stoop, walk up stairs and lift 50 pounds and carry 20 pounds
- Must have valid Driver’s License and ability to be insured by Company policy
- Must clear background check for a Community Care Licensed facility including physical, TB, and drug test
