Job Summary
Conduct private basketball lessons from 6:00-9:00pm on Tuesdays, developing and implementing a progressive curriculum that incorporates safety protocols. Evaluate participant skill levels to update lessons, actively lead sessions by balancing instruction for different ages, and demonstrate techniques while setting a positive example. Greet arrivals, verify sign-in/out, and communicate daily progress to parents. Directly supervise youth to ensure safety and engagement, enforce park rules, and complete attendance and incident reports. Maintain a clean, organized facility, inventory first aid supplies, and address maintenance needs immediately.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- At least 4 years of teaching/coaching experience in assigned sport
- Ability to demonstrate and teach basic, intermediate and advanced skills
- Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Ability to keep certification current
- Highly motivated
- Ability to assume a positive and active role
- Ability to work under potentially stressful conditions
- Ability to be firm with participants when necessary
- Ability to enforce park district rules
- Ability to make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all participants, facilities, and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to teach higher level skills
- Experience working with youth, especially in a recreation setting
- College coursework in recreation, education, or related field
