Job Summary
Youth and Family Support Worker provides short-term crisis support, referrals, guidance, and problem-solving to youth and families; uses strength-based approaches to improve parenting skills, connect clients to community resources, and support youth in or at risk of involvement with the justice system. Responsibilities include assessment, interviewing, documentation, mediation and psycho-educational activities to promote resilience, independence, and family stability; may participate in Integrated Case Management (ICM) meetings, coordinate referrals, and support youth transitioning to independence. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human/social services or related field, one year of relevant experience, First Aid, and valid BC driver’s license. Position is temporary (until Aug 31, 2026) with 37.5 hours/week, based in Langley, BC, reporting to the Program Coordinator, and requires union membership (BCGEU).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human/social services or related field
- One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Current First Aid Certification required
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers’ license, have a reliable vehicle, business insurance and drivers abstract review
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software
- Successful police information check, including a clear vulnerable sector search is required
