Job Summary

Manage, direct, and coordinate school-age child care, summer camp, and youth sport programs while ensuring high-quality standards and safety compliance. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers; develop curricula integrating YMCA Character Development materials. Oversee income and expenses, maintain program documents for regulatory compliance, and respond to parent inquiries and complaints. Oversee behavior management, including redirection and parent conferences. Assist in annual campaign fundraising and recruit storytellers. Maintain SFSP sponsor regulations and ensure mandatory trainings are completed.

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer
  • Medicare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training
  • Appropriate Touch training
  • Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training
  • Hazard Communication for Employees training
  • Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens training
  • Preventing Member and Guest Slips, Trips, and Falls training
  • Risk Management 101 training
  • Safe Lifting training
  • Social Media & Digital Communications training
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
  • Three or more years of management experience
  • Valid NC Driver's License
  • Proof of auto insurance on vehicle used
  • YMCA Leader certification preferred
  • Ability to travel on a flexible schedule as needed with a driving record that meets YMCA policies
  • Scheduling flexibility based on meeting demands of job roles: early mornings, late nights, and weekend work possible
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Skills are essential in all of the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Travel is primarily within a 30 mile radius during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected

Desired Qualifications

  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, behavior management and age-appropriate discipline strategies for children
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • YMCA Leader certification preferred
  • Preferably in multiple YMCA program areas or other not-for-profit agencies
