Job Summary
The Youth Advocate role supports transition-age youth (18+) involved in child welfare through a unified team approach (Youth Advocate, Education and Employment Specialist, Housing Specialist) delivering community-based case management, individualized education and employment support, and crisis intervention. Responsibilities include developing partnership strategies with youth, direct coaching/mentoring/intervention to increase self-sufficiency, providing individual counseling and crisis intervention, ongoing well-being assessments and safety planning, providing clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with community providers, completing documentation and plans, and participating in on-call coverage and meetings both in-person and virtually. Requires a Master’s degree in a related field (preferred), experience with foster-care–involved youth, strong risk management and communication skills, comfort working in diverse community settings, and daily automobile access with MA driver’s license. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or related field preferred
- Experience working with transition age youth with complex presentations, including chronic trauma, preferred
- Must be comfortable working in community settings
- High level of personal accountability and ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work
- Effective risk management and sound judgment in complex challenges
- Strong reading and writing skills and effective oral and written communication
- Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving BIPOC and LGBTQ+-identifying youth
- Demonstrated flexibility and collaborative spirit; open-minded learning approach
- Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions
- Daily access to an automobile is required
- A valid MA State Driver’s License
- Clearing of background checks as required by state and federal law
- Remain current in all required training
