Job Summary

The Youth Advocate provides shift coverage for Restorative Pathways shelter serving self-identified youth with histories of sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or at risk of such abuse. Responsibilities include monitoring the facility across day/evening/overnight shifts, offering emotional support and active listening to residents, conducting telephone screening for potential clients, basic maintenance and clerical tasks, data entry, documentation of processes, orienting new residents, and providing back-up coverage for other programs. The role is 100% in-person, requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds, local Bay Area travel may be required, and compensation is $29.87 per hour for a full-time 40-hour week with benefits. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area and respond with thoughtful prompts as part of the application.

Required Qualifications

  • A High-School Diploma or equivalent and either Two years of full-time experience, or its equivalent, working with the population to be served or equivalent education or experience as determined by CDSS or Two years’ experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home or short-term residential therapeutic program
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Be able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with UC, including Varicella, TDap or Tdap, Influenza, Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
  • In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by Restorative Pathways insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles
  • Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents. Able to meet all licensing requirements of Community Care Licensing.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experienced in child welfare and/or case management, crisis intervention, peer counseling
  • Experienced in working with survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence
  • Experienced working with the immigrant community
  • Experienced working in a residential setting providing direct services to survivors
  • Understanding of the dynamics of trauma-sensitive care, as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations and languages as it relates to family dynamics and other aspects of cultural practice
