Job Summary
Youth Advocate responsible for supporting homeless and at-risk youth (ages 15-22) toward stability and self-sufficiency through shelter, basic needs, referrals, resources, and individualized case plans. Responsibilities include engaging with youth on case plans, assisting with emergency shelter, maintaining a safe environment, greeting visitors and coordinating communications, attending staff and shift-change meetings, following on-call protocols, managing paperwork in compliance with licensing/contract requirements, and providing safe transportation when needed. Requires trauma-informed approach, professional boundaries, reliable attendance, and ability to work with community resources. Essential physical/life requirements include CPR/First Aid readiness, ability to pass background checks and drug screening, and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Knowledge of HMIS/documentation and ability to use basic office equipment are expected. The role supports a nonprofit setting with full-time benefits and a schedule that includes grave, swing, and day shifts, with some weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of social services or youth-related experience (preferred)
- Ability to use a computer, phone, and copier
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; flexible to changes
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs
- Must be moving around and interacting with clients for extended periods
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a current driver’s license and have a good driving record
- Must be able to pass Utah DHHS background check for those working with vulnerable populations
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test
