Job Summary
Youth ACT Family Peer Advocate (Youth) provides family-driven, youth-guided services to youth ages 10-21 with behavioral health needs in homes and communities. Responsibilities include advocacy across child-serving systems, psychoeducation for youth and families, individual skill development for youth, teaching coping strategies based on personal experience, helping youth navigate formal services and informal resources, documenting progress, collaborating with care providers, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and maintaining documentation per agency and funding-source standards. Requires evening availability, travel within NYC, and a hybrid/office-based work pattern with eventual potential for more in-person work; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Specialty credentialing in advocacy (Provisional) can be obtained during the probationary period.
- Certification must be obtained within one year
- Lived experience of mental health challenges.
- Background in advocating mental health and/or in the educational system.
