Job Summary

Youth ACT Family Peer Advocate provides treatment and support to youth ages 10 to 21 and their families in homes and communities as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include advocacy across child-serving systems, psychoeducation and self-help technique instruction to youth, developing individual coping strategies, identifying formal and informal services, documenting youth progress, and collaborating with care providers. The role requires travel within New York City, evening availability, and a hybrid work arrangement with both office and community/home-based activities. Must have lived experience with mental health challenges and a background in advocacy, with bilingual Spanish/English preferred, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Specialty credentialing in advocacy (Provisional) can be obtained during the probationary period
  • Certification must be obtained within one year
  • Lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Background in advocating mental health and/or in the educational system
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to learn electronic health records and other software as required
