Job Summary
Lead the design and implementation of YAC projects, events and initiatives (e.g. Youth Week) as agreed at Planning Days and YAC meetings. Provide regular progress updates and reports to the YAC Chair or project lead. Represent the YAC on other Red Cross committees where appointed. Attend and assist with Red Cross events as required. Research youth-related topics and provide written reports to senior staff. Provide advice from a youth perspective for Red Cross programs and business functions, particularly those involving young people. Work with state Board and advocate for participation, recognition and support for young people in all relevant activities. Coordinate and manage YAC projects and campaigns, collaborate with YACs in other states/territories, and support university clubs and branches as needed. Commitment includes monthly meetings and 2-3 hours per week, plus involvement in project work and events outside meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Ages 16-29 years
- Membership of Australian Red Cross (can join as member)
- Submit recent CV
- National Police Check (to be organised by Red Cross)
- Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check (depending on state/territory)
- Ability to coordinate projects and/or events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence presenting to a broad range of stakeholders
- Experience with community-based organisations (desirable)
- Experience with diverse people (desirable)
- Ability to work independently or in a dispersed team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of Australian Red Cross work
