Job Summary

Lead the design and implementation of Youth Advisory Committee projects, events, and initiatives such as Youth Week as agreed at Planning Days and meetings. Provide regular progress updates and reports to the YAC Chair or project lead, and represent the committee on other Red Cross committees where appointed. Research youth-related topics and documents to provide written reports to senior staff, while offering advice and support to University Clubs and Red Cross Clubs. Collaborate with YACs in other States and Territories, and work with the state Board to advocate for young people's participation and recognition. Deliver monthly face-to-face or Teams meetings and attend required events including AGM and World Red Cross Day. Requires a 12-month commitment of 2-3 hours per week for volunteers aged 16-29.

Required Qualifications

  • Ages 16 - 29 years
  • Interest/experience in coordinating projects and/ or events
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • confident presenting to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience working with diverse people, including culturally and linguistically diverse people
  • At ease working independently or as part of a diverse and geographically dispersed team to share the workload
  • Organisational skills including the ability to prioritise tasks and manage commitments
  • Knowledge of and interest in the work of Australian Red Cross
  • Strong commitment to taking humanitarian action and voluntary service
  • National Police Check
  • Working With Vulnerable People Check

  • Experience working with community-based organisations
