Job Summary
Youth Academic Professional plans and facilitates structured afterschool enrichment activities for youth in grades 4K-5th at a Blue Door Academy site. Responsibilities include planning and delivering developmentally appropriate programming aligned with BGCA’s core elements, following the daily schedule, building authentic relationships with youth, ensuring safety and supervision, documenting attendance and program delivery, and adhering to site policies. The role requires arriving prepared, maintaining high program quality, and upholding professional standards, with onboarding and ongoing learning requirements. This is a part-time, 9-month school-year position at Underwood Elementary School in Wauwatosa, WI, with up to 29 hours per week and CPR/First Aid and mandated reporting responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in an educational, recreational, or community-based setting is preferred
- Experience facilitating structured activities or group programming is preferred
- Prior experience with Boys & Girls Clubs of America or a comparable youth-serving organization is preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire)
- Complete Mandated Reporter training upon hire
- Wisconsin Childcare Registry/Certification classes and clearances within 90 days
- Wisconsin Childcare Registry Level 7 or above preferred
Desired Qualifications

- Prior Boys & Girls Clubs of America or comparable youth-serving organization experience (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire)

- Wisconsin Childcare Registry/Certification classes and clearances within 90 days (Level 7 or above preferred)
- Strong communication skills; ability to engage youth of varying ages
- Reliability, punctuality, and accountability

- Ability to plan, deliver, and adapt structured programming to meet developmental needs
