Job Summary
Part-time Youth Academic Professional at Blue Door Academy overseeing afterschool enrichment for youth in grades 4K-5th. Responsible for planning, delivering, and adapting structured activities aligned to the program model, utilizing BGCA’s Five Key Elements of Positive Youth Development, and maintaining a safe, engaging environment supervised by the Club Manager. Responsibilities include program planning and delivery, youth engagement and relationship building, site operations and safety, and professional development. This role requires arriving prepared, enforcing routines, maintaining accurate attendance/child tracking, adhering to safety procedures, completing onboarding and ongoing training, and meeting professional standards. Location is Madison Elementary School in Wauwatosa, WI; up to 29 hours per week during the 9 Month School Year.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in educational, recreational, or community-based settings (preferred)
- Successful completion of required background checks, fingerprinting, TB and physical tests, and any other regulatory clearances prior to being hired
- CPR/First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire)
- Complete Mandated Reporter training upon hire
- Within 90 days, completion of Wisconsin Childcare Registry/Certification classes and clearances (Level 7 or above preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with youth, families, and colleagues
- Strong communication skills to engage youth of varying ages and developmental stages
- Ability to follow structured program plans and adapt activities in real time
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable; able to meet professional schedule
- Cultural competence and commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Ability to stand, move, engage with youth for extended periods (physical requirements)
