Job Summary

The Young Adult Prevention Coordinator oversees and implements primary substance use prevention initiatives targeting Maine’s young adults (ages 18–25). Responsibilities include developing criteria for funding distribution, managing contracts, leading collaboration with state and community partners, and ensuring timely project deliverables. The role requires three years of relevant experience or an equivalent seven-year combination of education and professional experience. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in project management, evidence-based programming, and effective communication, alongside knowledge of prevention practices.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Public or Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences, Health Education, Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a related field and three (3) years of professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, and/or evaluation of health programs or services
  • An equivalent combination of seven (7) years of education, training, and professional experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other substance use prevention, intervention, and treatment practices, including recovery‐oriented systems of care
  • Prevention certification through the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC)
  • Experience with strategic planning, outcomes assessment, and research or evaluation methodologies
  • Experience designing and managing community partner application and selection processes, including scoring frameworks and cross‐functional review
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse racial, cultural, and socio‐economic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated skill in applying best practices in health communication
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to stakeholders and community audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
