Job Summary

Conduct group and private swim lessons while ensuring adequate safety procedures and maintaining strict class control. Develop and deliver practical lesson plans for Basic, Intermediate, and Advance levels, evaluating stroke technique and updating student progress records after each session. Prepare individualized student evaluations with recommendations for level advancement and maintain accurate attendance logs. Teach in the water, returning all instructional equipment to proper locations and relating to participants and parents with patience and courtesy.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Possess an outgoing personality with the ability to relate well with participants of various age groups
  • Must be attentive, multi-faceted, reliable, and a proven problem solver
  • Must have positive mentality
  • CPR and First Aid completion cards
  • Obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Certification within nine (9) months
  • Must be 17 years of age
  • At least two (2) years experience
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have 4 years of aquatics teaching experience
  • At least 2 water instruction certifications
  • Must have the physical ability to meet all prerequisites for YASA Lifeguarding
  • Must be able to lift and move around objects of 40 pounds or more
  • Swim 500 yards
  • Must be able to actively teach the YMCA swim program in the water
  • Ability to see and hear participants in distress or asking for assistance
