Job Summary

Supervise swimming activities at the Y's aquatic facilities by enforcing pool regulations, administering first aid, and responding to emergencies to minimize danger. Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water quality, including chlorine residual tests and chemical additions, while assisting with cleaning and maintaining accurate records. Evaluate safety conditions and initiate aquatics emergency action plans as required. This role requires a 16-year-old swimmer capable of lifting 40 pounds and performing active and passive victim rescues. The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington offers flexible part-time and full-time shifts, a 10% employer-funded retirement plan, and free membership for employees and dependents.

  • Swim 500 yards
  • Tread water for two minutes (Legs only)
  • Retrieve training victim from bottom deep end
  • Active victim rescue with tube
  • Passive victim rescue with tube
  • Backboard victim
  • Ability to see and hear participants in distress or asking for assistance

Desired Qualifications
