Job Summary
Teach group and private swim lessons across Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels; maintain safety, discipline, and a structured, engaging learning environment; arrive at least 5 minutes early with materials; develop and follow lesson plans; track attendance, skill progression, and student evaluations; assess stroke technique and recommend level advancement; maintain clean instructional areas and equipment; communicate professionally with participants, parents, and staff; attend staff meetings and complete additional duties as assigned; CPR and First Aid certification required and YMCA Swim Lesson Certification must be obtained within 9 months; age-based instructor tiers (Basic 16+, Intermediate 17+, Advanced 18+); pay is hourly with flexible scheduling (part-time and full-time).
Required Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Certification within 9 months
- Must be at least 16 years old for Basic Instructor, 17 for Intermediate Instructor, 18 for Advanced Instructor
- Must hold at least one swim instruction certification (YMCA, Red Cross WSI, or equivalent)
