Job Summary
Security Specialist at YMCA of South Florida Broward Youth Development Team. Responsibilities include patrolling school interior and grounds, responding to service calls (burglary, mischief, disturbances), preparing reports and patrols, enforcing traffic regulations, coordinating with educational staff and maintenance personnel, visitor control, ensuring life safety compliance, reporting losses to risk management, and adhering to child abuse reporting requirements. Requires strong interpersonal skills, calmness in crisis, and a valid Florida driver’s license with SBBC security training certification or equivalent referral. Must complete Level II background screening and pass a drug test; equality opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or vocational school training
- School Board Trained as security personnel and a minimum of 1 year experience working with adolescent youth or at least one (1) year experience in armed security or sworn law enforcement assignment
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License
- SBBC security training certification or letter of referral/recommendation from school principal
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Background screening: thorough Level II fingerprint background check
- Drug screening: successful completion of a drug test as a condition of employment
