Job Summary
Implement youth-centered curriculum and direct supervision for STEP students to teach workplace skills, etiquette, and goal-setting while assisting with toileting needs and adaptive programming. Distribute daily nutritional snacks, conduct health checks for injuries or abuse signs, and document all student progress and outcomes for the Case Manager. Perform regular facility inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety, manage supplies and equipment, and coordinate closely with school personnel. Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications and complete a Level II background screening. Work primarily inside classrooms with moderate to loud noise levels, requiring 70% standing and ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years' experience working with individuals with varying physical and developmental disabilities
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates by time of employment or within ninety (90) days from the date of hire
- Ability to relate to people; understand and practice YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- At least twenty-one (21) years-old at the time of hire
- Must successfully clear a thorough Level II fingerprint background screening
- Must successfully complete a drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in the field related to education, career development, or social services with a minimum 2 years' experience in Special Education working with individuals with varying physical and developmental disabilities
