Job Summary
Provide overall leadership and quality control to the after-school site, ensuring child-to-staff ratios are maintained and all site staff are supervised appropriately. Plan and implement varied activities based on the mandated curriculum while fostering a positive atmosphere that boosts participant self-esteem. Maintain individual participant records, monitor daily attendance sheets, and organize all files necessary for the program. Communicate regularly with parents regarding participation and behavior issues, and report all incidents and accidents within 24 hours to the corporate office. Adhere to Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements and all standards set by funding agencies and the YMCA. Complete and maintain all necessary certifications within proper time frames as set forth by licensing agencies, the State of Florida, or the YMCA of South Florida.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology or related field
- Letter from school site principal confirming staff suitability
- Master's degree
- Minimum of three (3) years' work experience in an educational facility which includes direct contact with children and supervision of staff
- Ability to relate to both children and adults
- Understand, practice and model YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete and maintain all necessary certifications, within the proper time frame, as set forth by either the licensing agency, State of Florida or the YMCA of South Florida

- Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling

- Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds

- Submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprint background screening
- Successfully complete a drug test
