Job Summary
The Yardmaster supervises and coordinates train operations, including the make-up, dispatch, switching, classification, and movement of trains and rail cars while ensuring safety in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years related experience
- Ability to interact with employees and work as part of a team
- Must be able to work irregular shifts, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to respond to changing work assignments
- Must be able to assume responsibility for the safety of others
- Physical examination required including drug and alcohol screening
- Must be able to qualify on the NORAC book of rules
- Must be able to qualify on Conrail’s computer systems applicable to Yardmasters

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and customer focus
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
