Job Summary
Direct warehouse and yard associates in receiving, shipping, stocking, and counting inventory while monitoring quality and completing paperwork. Lead a team of fewer than 10 associates by directing daily work assignments, coordinating tasks, and overseeing the safe movement of materials and finished components. Operate forklifts with foot and hand controls to build outgoing orders, load delivery equipment, and utilize facility equipment such as banders and power tools. Maintain an organized work environment by emptying trash receptacles, keeping bays and staging areas clean, and assisting with inventory control counts. Mentor new associates, train others, and participate in safety committees and continuous improvement projects. Provide excellent customer service and ensure error-free, damage-free results through adherence to workplace safety standards and policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4-6 years industry experience / freight handling
- Ability to do basic math
- Ability to read orders
- Ability to write instructions and complete forms
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems
- Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, Inventory Control Systems and other necessary business applications)
- Demonstration of leadership
- Willingness to train others
- Safety committee engagement
- Participation in US1 Continuous Improvement Projects
- Operating a forklift truck with foot and hand controls
