Job Summary
Conduct daily yard checks to document trailers and equipment, then safely operate a switch tractor to move assets within Company property only. Position trailers at docks, staging areas, or loading zones as directed while maintaining accurate inventory records and reporting discrepancies. Communicate proactively with operations personnel regarding trailer status and availability, and perform pre-use inspections to report any safety or mechanical concerns. Monitor yard conditions to support safe traffic flow and respond to operational needs with urgency while adhering to all safety policies and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience operating as a yard jockey, switcher driver, or similar role
- Valid Driver's license in good standing
- High awareness to safety at all times
- Ability to safely maneuver trailers using a switch tractor in a yard, dock, or industrial environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate yard/equipment records
- Proactive communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established safety procedures
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force (Frequent); or a lesser amount of force to move objects (Constant)
- Concentration/Attention to Detail (Constant)
- Vision (Close, Constant)
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all Company safety procedures is required
