Job Summary
Yard Supervisor responsible for leading and directing yard staff in loading, unloading, and movement of materials, ensuring safety, training, and compliance with shipping specifications. Oversees performance, provides input on employee performance, and maintains equipment operation and maintenance. Handles bills of lading and packing slips, assists customers with loading and delivery status, and upholds housekeeping and safety procedures. Requires advanced knowledge of yard operations, experience with machinery, ability to plan workflows for efficiency, proficiency in Excel, and bilingual ability in English and Spanish are a plus. Requires 5 years of yard operations experience and the physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds; outdoor yard environment; regulatory compliance and safety focus.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of yard operations experience or equivalent education
- Advanced knowledge of yard and product activities on location including weights and loading methods
- Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard; maintains certification to operate such if required
- Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency
- Ability to read and write work schedules and reports
- Knowledge of basic math, counting, and estimating
- Customer service orientation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (plus)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds
- Work is outdoors with temperature and weather variations
- May be required to perform tasks involving climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling
