Job Summary
Oversee GEODIS trailer yards by supervising clerks and hostlers, scheduling personnel, and maintaining accurate equipment inventory reports. Ensure safety compliance through wheel chocking, glad hand lock application, and jack stand checks while coordinating with security guards on yard flow. Troubleshoot carrier issues, manage location equipment maintenance, and train new hires on best practices. Maintain spreadsheets for external and internal reporting using Microsoft Office tools. Requires a high school diploma, three years of related experience, and a clean motor vehicle record.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
- Approved Motor Vehicle Record
- Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with building and manipulating spreadsheets to report information to external and internal shareholders
- PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred
