Yard Safety Coordinator

Job Summary
Monitor truck loading and unloading to ensure adherence to safety procedures while conducting regular yard patrols to identify hazards. Report unsafe practices to the Health & Safety team, manage trailer seals and restraint systems, and verify driver paperwork using the visitor management system. Track preventative maintenance for dock equipment, operate dock plates and doors, and maintain yard cleanliness in an outdoor environment requiring PPE. This hands-on role reports to the Distributions Operations Manager within Expeditors, a Fortune 500 global supply chain leader with 19,000 trained professionals across 350+ locations.
Required Qualifications
- Physically capable of performing manual tasks (lifting, bending, standing)
- Familiarity with dock equipment and restraint systems
- Basic recordkeeping and documentation skills
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in warehouse or yard operations preferred
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures
- Effective communication skills with drivers and team members
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety standards
- Experience with visitor management and dock door systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
