Yard Operative / Van Driver

Job Summary
Assist customers to locate and load materials, operate a forklift if licensed, and maintain yard cleanliness and safety standards. Load and unload supplier and customer vehicles, conduct stock checks for damages or shortages, and ensure all Health & Safety and PPE requirements are followed. Deliver building materials to customers using a company van up to 3.5t, planning efficient routes and securing loads while completing paperwork accurately. Provide friendly, professional customer service on every delivery as the face of the branch. Full UK driving licence required; forklift licence desirable. Week 1 and 2 hours are Monday–Friday 07:00–17:00 with Saturday 07:00–12:30. Competitive salary and pension scheme included.
Required Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Must Have Driving and forklift licence
- Full UK driving licence (up to 3.5t)
- Forklift (counterbalance) licence
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and outdoor work
- Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
- Full-time employment (alternating Saturdays)
- Monday–Friday 07:00–17:00
- Saturday 07:00–12:30
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a builders' merchant, trade, or construction environment
- Good knowledge of building materials
- Strong customer service and communication skills
