Job Summary
Yard Jockey (Spotter / Switcher) position at US 1 Shorthaul: move trailers in and out of the dock with yard goats, perform drop and hook, conduct yard audits at end of shift, complete pre- and post-trip inspections and report truck conditions, and follow safety guidelines for yard operations. Requires ability to read and understand safety rules and procedure manuals, use the Yard Management System (YMS) to request and complete trailer moves, attention to detail, and English proficiency. Experience: minimum 12 months of over-the-road or trailer spotting within the last 3 years; Class A CDL preferred; DOT-related safeguards include background checks, drug testing, PSP below 90, and clearinghouse consent. Required Qualifications
- Class A CDL (preferred)
- Minimum 12 months of over the road or trailer spotting experience in last 3 years
- Minimum MVR requirements met
- No preventable DOT accidents within past 3 years
- No application falsifications, 10-year verifiable employment history with no gaps
- Pass pre-hire background and drug test
- No felony convictions within past 7 years
- Knowledge of yard operations and safety rules
- Ability to read and understand safety rules and operating procedures
- English language required
- Capability to operate Yard Management System (YMS)
- Ability to back trailers 48' to 53'
- Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment
- PSP below 90
- Clearinghouse consent
