Job Summary
Yard Jockey responsible for safely maneuvering tractors/trailers and loading/unloading operations in the yard. Performs pre/post-shift inspections, loads/unloads freight using forklift, pallet jack, or by hand, and secures cargo with blocks, braces, bars, dunnage, and airbags. Sets up/breaks down and hooks trailers, ensures tilt bars are lowered when loading, and operates landing gear. Monitors yard for unsafe drivers, communicates with dock supervision and fleet services, and adheres to safety and time constraints. Night/weekend shifts may be required; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and pass required screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- CDL and acceptable MVR if driving on public roads
- FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse registration (if CDL holder)
- Ability to operate forklift (7500 lb vehicle)
- Physically able to lift 70 lbs or more
- Ability to stand, lift, twist, climb, and perform repetitive motions
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Night/weekend shifts may be required
- Must interact well with others and work independently or in a team
