Job Summary
Yard Driver at Stoughton Trailers operates yard equipment to move trailers and units within the yard and plant areas, perform daily equipment inspections, maintain documentation, and ensure safety. The role requires back-loading/backing trailers into tight spaces, moving units in and out of plant buildings, and coordinating with security and team members. Responsibilities include documenting unit movements, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and supporting a team-focused environment with reliable attendance; shifts include Monday-Thursday with specified start times and mandatory overtime. Licenses and certifications such as a valid driver’s license and forklift certification are required or obtainable, and CDL considerations may apply for heavier vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain
- Knowledge of CDL requirements and classifications (including Hazardous Materials training if applicable)
- Ability to safely and efficiently back trailers into tight spaces
- 1–3 months of related experience and/or training preferred
- Strong attention to safety and spatial awareness
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in a team environment
