Job Summary
The Yard Driver role involves safe and efficient movement of trailers in the yard, with potential forklift operation. Responsibilities include backing trailers into dock/yard spaces, engaging dock locks/chocks, deploying trailer stands, parking/organizing trailers, operating a yard spotter, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractors (DVIRs), using YMS to coordinate inbound/outbound trailer movements, refueling yard tractors, operating a forklift to move shipments, coordinating with office staff on trailer movements, prioritizing tasks to minimize downtime for warehouse staff, and completing system/manual reports accurately. Must follow company policy, participate in trainings, keep equipment clean, and work in accordance with safety regulations. Travel is not required. Requires the ability to work in various weather conditions and pass required screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver''''s license
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable spotting experience
- Minimum of six months related experience or training in a distribution environment
- Forklift experience preferred
- Must pass company physical, drug screen and background check
- Willing to work in inclement weather
- No accidents and no more than two minor moving violations in the last three years
