Job Summary
Yard Department Manager oversees the assigned department and its associates, handling merchandising, pricing, inventory control, and housekeeping while interacting with store leadership and vendors. Requires knowledge of building materials, customer service expertise, supervisory capabilities, and ability to analyze departmental financial and inventory levels to maintain performance. The role involves supervising and coaching staff, coordinating with management, and ensuring department standards are met in a retail home improvement environment.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Basic education which includes ability to competently read and write
- Experience in selling/serving customers and building materials knowledge
- Limited typing and key punch skills
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Supervisory experience preferred
- General knowledge of building and home improvement industry
- Detailed knowledge of assigned department
- Physical demands: constant medium work and occasional heavy work
