Job Summary
Design and deliver high-performance, scalable software solutions for payment systems and transaction processing using Node.js, TypeScript, and event-driven architecture. Own the architecture for significant service components, build secure, efficient APIs for customer-facing and internal financial services, and implement integrations with third-party payment gateways and ACH systems. Develop distributed backend systems with high availability and fault tolerance, while ensuring compliance with PCI-DSS and other security standards. Monitor system performance via AWS CloudWatch, respond to incidents, and lead post-mortem analyses to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to drive product improvements and enhance user experience across financial services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus in financial technology and payments
- Proven experience building scalable, secure software solutions and APIs for high-transaction systems
- Strong programming proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, or similar languages
- Experience designing and implementing APIs, backend systems, and microservices architectures
- Understanding of software security, encryption, and compliance standards in fintech (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC2)
- Self reliance: Ability to work independently with limited supervision in order to achieve goals
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in fast-paced, startup environments is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS experience preferred) for building and scaling software applications
