Job Summary
Prepare cross section specimens and mounts by grinding, polishing, and viewing internal and external features of printed circuit boards using a metallurgical microscope and Omega Meter. Report measurements, anomalies, and ionic contamination levels while generating photomicrographs and documentation in Microsoft Word and Excel. Order lab analyses, maintain orderly files, and conduct testing to evaluate board compliance with IPC and Mil-Spec standards. Work graveyard shifts from 10 PM to 5:30 AM, wearing required personal protective equipment and following daily priority lists from the production control center. Maintain a clean work environment and inform managers of potential issues.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred
- 1-2 years experience in cross sectioning of printed circuit boards
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions
- Ability to evaluate cross section for compliance to required specifications
- Good mechanical aptitude and visual acuity for prolonged sessions using microscopes
- Good mathematical accuracy in the reading and reporting of cross section specimens
- Good computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new skills and tasks as required
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds maximum
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, protective glasses, face-shields, etc. Must not be allergic to common forms of rubber and plastic use for PPE
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the day
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain quality of products at all time
- Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced and increased sound environment
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality & professionalism at all times
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Ability to open filing cabinets
- Ability to bend, stand, or climb on step ladders as necessary
