Job Summary

Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them correctly, operating x-ray equipment, and communicating the process to ensure comfort and safety. Maintain radiation protection materials and shielding, while evaluating and reporting any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Process and enter procedure information into the electronic health record, and evaluate examination rooms to ensure they are clean, stocked, and properly sterilized. Maintain strict confidentiality and participate in professional development activities and required organizational meetings. Perform additional related duties as assigned while adhering to safety protocols and standard procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of course in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists
  • Must maintain certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART)
  • Active Indiana State license
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform x-ray testing
  • Knowledge of and experience with radiology equipment
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement
  • Skill in properly positioning patients and identifying equipment problems
  • Knowledge and understanding of common safety hazards and conditions present in a clinic environment
  • Ability to establish a safe work environment
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others

  • Manual and finger dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.) and radiologic equipment
  • Eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of radiologic equipment
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films
  • Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients
  • Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, and the public
  • Work may be stressful at times
