Job Summary
Conduct clinical support and patient care coordination in a gastroenterology clinic, including obtaining vital signs, drawing blood, preparing patients for examinations, and providing pre- and post-operative education. Accurately document medical histories, test results, and clinical information in the electronic medical record while observing and communicating changes in patient status to the provider. Assist with patient discharge by reviewing instructions and coordinating follow-up care, and prepare examination rooms by ensuring equipment is clean, functioning, and stocked. Maintain clinical inventory, follow infection prevention and safety policies, and perform administrative duties such as scheduling, registration, and insurance verification. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and front office staff to deliver coordinated care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant
- BLS certification
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to assist with patient positioning, transfers, and mobility as needed
- Ability to maintain manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, administering injections, and using medical equipment
- Visual and auditory ability to accurately assess patients, read medical records, and communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies and procedures
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout their employment
- Employees hired for this position must reside in the State of Colorado no later than their first day of employment and maintain residency in Colorado
