Job Summary

Plan and deliver rigorous English Language Arts instruction aligned to Grade 6 Common Core State Standards, focusing on the writing process from planning through publishing. Design curriculum and assessments using school learning standards while integrating reading, vocabulary, and critical thinking across content areas. Analyze formative and summative assessment data to adjust instruction, provide timely feedback, and monitor student progress toward grade-level standards. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs, implement accommodations for IEPs and 504 Plans, and collaborate with support teams to provide targeted small-group intervention and enrichment. Establish inclusive classroom routines that encourage student voice, intellectual risk-taking, and ownership of academic growth. This full-time salaried position at Woodlawn Middle School supports a mission of college readiness and community contribution. A Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, and valid Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree
  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement
  • 1-3 years classroom teacher experience
  • Experience serving in an urban teaching environment
  • Excellent teacher with proven experience enabling urban students to meet high expectations
  • Reflective and receptive to providing and receiving professional feedback, video recording, and coaching
  • Collaborative, collegial, goal-oriented, mission-driven, accountable, responsible, self-managed, and self-motivated
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, students, parents, and community partners
  • Ability to communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders
