Job Summary
Develop and deliver writing courses in Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Screenwriting, Editing, and Composition to adult students in Westwood or Downtown Los Angeles. Design interactive classroom activities, present lectures, and host guest speakers while utilizing Canvas for online and hybrid delivery. Evaluate student work, post final grades to transcripts within two weeks of course end, and respond to student inquiries within 24 hours. Maintain course materials, monitor evaluations for curriculum adjustments, and complete required annual compliance trainings and administrative tasks including textbook orders and website updates. Participate in program activities such as scholarship judging and script consultations.
Required Qualifications

- Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- High emotional intelligence
- Proficiency in or willingness to learn the use of instructional technology and online teaching tools
- Prior teaching experience in English composition at the college level
- Advanced degree (Master's or higher)
- Documented publications (books, periodicals, and/or literary magazines)
- Documented produced scripts (features, teleplays, etc)
- Documented professional experience as a professional staff member of a publisher or press
- Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area (Creative Writing)
- Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area (Screenwriting)
- Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area (Editing & Publishing)
- Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area (Written Communication)
